It was a real treat to be back on the road to love in the unicorn studio with Matthias yesterday. After a well needed break and the completion of the ‘Trisha Brown marathon’, it was good to revisit the solo, and all it entails.
It’s challenging work. It is complex for brain and body, the most challenging idea I find is to not separate the two….. can my thoughts dance as well as my limbs?
It’s serious/ funny practice, and Matthias allows space and time for a furrowed brow and the occasional giggle!
‘Matthias I love my job!’ I squeal, as I….
Hang on….
I wonder whether you are like my brother, who categorically does not want to hear ANY details about the piece…. Not even a faint whiff of costume, or outline of concept. Or are you like my mum, who digs away like a dance detective to uncover any hint of what might occur in those ‘blank’ 15 minutes….. No not ‘blank’ dance material, I’d just rather surprise you. Whether you naturally lean towards the tactics of my brother or mum I’m still going to keep you in suspense!
Ha ha

you’ll just have to wait and see.
I’ll tell you this though. I’m going to be testing my nerve through this piece. Essentially I am going to be juggling an awful lot of big balls.
You ready?
