We performed in Dundee Friday 25 May, and it was my first performance since coming back from Maternity Leave. Such an exciting feeling to be back in the theatre seeing the performance come together; from class in the morning through technical rehearsals and finally the show!
It was a first for Vicky, one of our dancer, to perform her solo and sing full pelt…with tonsillitis!
It was a first for Gemma, a young girl in the audience that I spoke to, who had been recruited into dance by Caroline Bowditch in her role as Dance Agent for Change. Gemma was very impressed by the Candoco dancers and inspired to keep on doing her dance and drama as part of an integrated youth group in Dundee.
It was a first for Torstein, my 10 month old son, to come on tour with us and experience tour life first hand- late night burgers and early morning trains.
It was not a first for a very good show, albeit quite a slow version of Set and Reset/Reset, neither was it a first for a very engaging audience that came to the post- show talk with intelligent and interesting questions. Dundee definitely has an experienced dance audience, i would imagine thanks to the work by Janet Smith and Scottish Dance. Performing at the Rep was a real pleasure!
If you haven’t seen Candoco perform yet, have a look at all the events coming up this Summer, and make it a first for you too!
