Q&A with Darren

What has been your highlight/ favourite time with Candoco so far?

Touring overseas. Serbia was interesting with a lot of different meats, Japan was like visiting the future, Spain so warm and sunny, China eye opening,  Norway clean, Austria charming, Switzerland was good for river swimming and Brazil everyone was super friendly.

Why dance? Why dance for Candoco?
I want to work with people who come from different backgrounds. Plus they get good choreographers in, too.

How did you get into dance?
I was asked by my friend’s mum who was a dance teacher. She said I had
rhythm so I started with jazz and tap and as I got older I to got more into
ballet and contemporary. But I still love to do a jazz slide or a time step every now and then

Who would you like to collaborate with and Why?

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui  I’ve always found his works interesting and physically changeling,
Charlotte Vincent because I love the integrity of her works and Christopher Guest makes the funniest flims

Who would be your dream dinner party guests?

Tracey Emin , Karl Lagerfeld, Grace Jones and Larry David
