Kimberley Harvey started dancing in 2000 as an original member of Candoco Dance Company’s youth dance company, Cando2. Kimberley went onto further training with the company, firstly on Candoco’s Foundation Course in Dance for Disabled Students and then, on the three-year Moving Bodies programme for emerging artists.
As a Candoco Artist, Kimberley performed at the London 2012 Paralympic Closing Ceremony and was part of the R&D for ‘Internal Rupture’ with fellow Candoco Artist, Welly O’Brien, with choreographer Caroline Bowditch. Kimberley has taught for Candoco in a variety of contexts, both in the UK and internationally. She also co-leads Candoco’s weekly youth session at Trinity Laban with Anne-Gaelle Thiriot.
As a freelancer, Kimberley’s performance work currently includes dancing for all female dance-theatre company, Moxie Brawl. She is performing in two of the company’s current works, Windibops and Sitback.
In addition, Kimberley has her own dance company, Subtle Kraft Co. Their work is fuelled by curiosity and a sense of humanity when working with relationships and the complexities of them. Subtle Kraft Co’s first live work, ‘Cravings of Intimacy & Solitude’, debuted at Resolution! 2012, before going on to be performed in a variety of venues. Kimberley has also choreographed and danced in a short dance film entitled, ‘Your Eyes Only’, in collaboration with Anne-Gaelle Thiriot.
The current work, ‘Moments: Revisited’, has and is creating very exciting opportunities for the company. A definite highlight so far has been performing in the Rafael Gallery at the V&A Museum. In addition, Robert Hesp and Kimberley Harvey have recently created a new duet entitled ‘Hiatus’ and hope to take this further in 2015 and beyond.
