Assistant Producer

As Assistant ProducerĀ at Candoco some of the qualities I bring to the role are energy, enthusiasm, adaptability, a geeky appreciation of good file management and an over arching sense of humour.

My path into arts producingĀ has been quite wide ranging which I feel has put me in good stead for working in the arts sector, it tends to throw everything at you and that’s just the way I like it! Prior to Candoco I worked at Arts Council England in the London Combined Arts team. During my time there I was a key lead on the Unlimited commission, a major project for the Cultural Olympiad and an amazing project to be involved with. The Unlimited festival at Southbank Centre in September is definitely one my highlights of the year.

I have a voracious appetite for the arts; dance, music, theatre, visual arts, literature, film… name one and I’ll enthuse, discuss and critique. My lighting bolt moment with contemporary dance came when I saw V-TOL dance company performing ‘…and nothing but the truth…’ in 1998 as part of my A-levels. For me at that time the mixture of choreography with film, live action, music, and text was a heady one and led me to Pina Bausch, DV8 and exploring experimental and physical theatre, areas I continued to investigate and love later on in my studies in Drama & Theatre and as a performer. To be working at a company as innovative and diverse as Candoco is a total pleasure and I’m very excited to be supporting the company and the team as we evolve.
