Our International Labs are intensive programmes for disabled and non-disabled artists from different cultures and disciplines to exchange ideas and methodology. The Lab is an opportunity to work with professional artists to take risks, test new ideas and share practice facilitated and creatively informed by Candoco. The focus and format of our Lab changes each year, to reflect the company’s current creative influences. Previous guest artists delivering our Labs include Anouk Llaurens, Nigel Charnock and Matthias Sperling. Participants can expect an approach to inclusive dance that is unexpected, challenging and enriching.

“The Lab has provided rich networking opportunities and I know it is the beginning of something new and fabulous. It has given me the confidence to continue working in the dance world. It was good for me to get out of Australia, and meet dancers from the UK and Europe.”
– Anna Seymour, Summer Lab participant 2013.

“It was such a long time ago I got so conscious about my own body. It feels like my body has been sleeping and not receiving any attention. This was totally challenged during the lab. I also didn’t get any pain even despite all the physical training, this is very unusual… The leaders really knew what they were doing. I learnt to trust the simplicity of the material. Spending more time on tasks, not being in a hurry.”
– Veera Grimberg, Summer Lab participant 2011 & 2013
