Renowned theatre and dance artist Wendy Houstoun combines movement with text and meaning with humour. In a performance loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest expect elaborate costumes and theatrical movements giving it a truly unique style.

Wendy Houstoun

Well known as a past performer with DV8, Wendy Houstoun is an artist committed to experimental movement and text. Her work challenges preconceptions about movement and communicates clearly and humorously about contemporary culture.

Her solo work has toured all over the world and includes Haunted, Daunted and Flaunted (1996-1998), The 48 Almost Love Lyrics (2004), Desert Island Dances (2006) and Happy Hour(2001 ), a site-specific piece for bars continues to tour worldwide.

Wendy has created pieces for the BBC with film- maker David Hinton Touched (Dance for Camera), received a Golden Sun Award from New York and an award from the Dance Film Festival in Riccione, Italy.
She has made duets with Nigel Charnock (Heart Attack), Rachel Krische (Jerwood Award), Jonathan Burrows, Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment.
Wendy has worked extensively in Australia. Her project In The Dark (2004) for Performance Space, Sydney received an Australian Dance Award for choreography and her piece for The Fondue Set, No Success Like Failure (2008) premiered at the Sydney Opera House in 2008.

Wendy Houstoun is based in London. She is Artist in Residence at Greenwich Dance Agency and an Artsadmin artist.
