A Living Archive at Wellcome Collection

In October 2012, Candoco Dance Company presented A Living Archive as part of the Wellcome Collection’s Superhuman exhibition.

The exhibition took a broad and playful look at our obsession with being the best we can be. Candoco’s appearance was meant to expose audiences to new ways of seeing and understanding disabled and non-disabled dancing bodies. The dancers explored the concept of superhuman ability to demonstrate the depth of physical possibilities and to challenge notions of beauty and normality. Visitors were able to see Candoco’s extraordinary dancers up close and in movement, as living specimens of peak physical condition.
